1. Holdrege North Park
Spend a day outdoors at one of Holdrege’s most popular parks. Walk the paved trail around the lake, take the kids to one of several playground areas including an adaptive playground, or cool off at the splash pad in the summer. You can also kayak, play tennis, look for birds, take photos, fish in the trout-stocked lake, or simply enjoy the scenery.

2. Lake Seldom
Just south of Holdrege, this peaceful patch of nature is seldom a lake. Walked the crushed concrete tail, bring your dog for a stroll, watch birds or relax and take in the beautiful Nebraska sunset.

3. Nebraska Prairie Museum
Step into history in this fascinating museum. Learn about the area’s past including the World War II German POW Camp, the Christian Orphans Home, local sports legends. Be sure to check out the new Project Prairie Power exhibit that highlights the history of agriculture and the Central Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation District.

4. Jeremy Hansen Arts Gallery & Outdoor Sculpture Garden
Located at 615 Minor in Bertrand, this gallery showcases the work of local artist Jeremy Hansen. Visitors can explore the outdoor garden anytime. The gallery, located in a former newspaper office, is open Saturdays 11 a.m.-2 p.m. or by appointment by calling 308-991-1372.

4. Midtown Sculpture Garden
Relax among the beautiful bronze sculptures and a vibrant mural in this inspiring public art space located at 710 4th Ave., in downtown Holdrege. It’s a perfect spot for photos, a quiet break, or a short art walk.

7. Birdwatching

8. Funk Waterfowl Production Area
(726 Road, Rural Funk). Enjoy a peaceful walk in nature at this 2,000-acre conservation area where you might see deer and migrating birds. In late March and early April, visitors may even spot the rate Whooping Crane during Migration.

9. Iron Horse Arts District Pop-Up Galleries
Each month, the Iron Horse Arts District schedules pop-up galleries featuring local and regional artists. Location varies between the Holdrege Area Public Library and Lost Way Brewery.
